è un lungometraggio d'animazione giapponese composto da tre episodi, prodotto dalla Bandai Visual nel 1995, e
realizzato sulla base di un'idea di Katsuhiro Otomo dagli studi Madhouse e Studio 4°C. È stato pubblicato in
Italia in DVD dalla Sony Pictures.

Trama 
Magnetic Rose (Kanojo no omoide, I ricordi della
signora). Il primo episodio, diretto da Koji Morimoto, è basato sul racconto di Katsuhiro Otomo "Kanojo no omoide" e
racconta di due astronauti in missione che si mettono alla ricerca dell'origine di un segnale di emergenza captato dalla
loro astronave, per poi ritrovarsi in un mondo magnifico e allucinante, creato dai ricordi di una misteriosa donna.
 
Stink Bomb (Saishu heiki, L'arma
puzzolente). Il secondo episodio, diretto da Tensai Okamura, è la storia di un giovane chimico che, per un tragico
errore, si trasforma accidentalmente in una micidiale arma biologica diretta verso la città di Tokyo.
 
Cannon Fodder (Taiho no machi, La
città dei cannoni). Il terzo ed ultimo episodio, diretto da Katsuhiro Otomo, descrive la giornata di una cittadina
disseminata di cannoni la cui unica attività è quella di aprire il fuoco verso un non rivelato e lontano
nemico.

Note Di Produzione
Alla sua nasquote il progetto risulta
molto ambizioso. Come nel caso di altre produzioni di film omnibus, quale ad esempio Manie-Manie - I racconti del
labirinto, l'obiettivo non è solo quello di creare un'opera dall'eccellente comparto narrativo e artistico, ma anche
di realizzare un prodotto all'avanguardia dal punto di vista tecnico e tecnologico, che possa oltrepassare i limiti
raggiunti fino a quel momento nella realizzazione delle animazioni e che riesca ad introdurre ognuna di queste
innovazioni nella maniera in cui risulti, per quanto innovativa e spettacolare, mai eccessiva e sempre al servizio della
narrazione.
A supervisionare e a dirigere l'intero progetto è il regista e mangaka Katsuhiro Otomo. Come già
precedentemente dimostrato con l'animazione di Akira, è uno degli autori capaci di oltrepassare non solo i limiti
tecnici e tecnologici del momento, ma anche i confini della distribuzione su scala nazionale, affermandosi su scala
globale. Inizialmente, l'obiettivo è proprio di portare su schermo delle trasposizioni di alcuni suoi racconti di
fantascienza, ma prima di arrivare alla sua forma definitiva nascono diverse difficoltà che porteranno l'operazione
per più di una volta in una fase di stallo. Si opta per la realizzazione di tre episodi, da completare uno alla
volta, con la volontà di sorprendere lo spettatore presentando continue innovazioni portandolo ad aspettarsi ogni
volta qualcosa di imprevedibile. Proprio per questa ragione vengono scelti tre differenti registi di grande esperienza e
dallo stile unico, tutti nati come scrittori e disegnatori prima di diventare registi. Il risultato finale è un
lungometraggio per sala cinematografica composto da tre mediometraggi autoconclusivi: Magnetic Rose, Stink Bomb e Cannon
Fodder.

Note Tecniche: 
I video provengono dal Bluray Giapponese
su quale ho effettuato l'encoding con x264. L'audio italiano proviene dal DVD italiano sul quale ho effettuato lo
slowdown ed aggiustato i delay per la sincronizzazione con i video. Come ultima nota: ho optato per non effettuare alcun
crop sui filmati per mantenerli omogenei come dimensione, in quanto avrebbero necessitato di tre dirrerenti
parametri.
